Know about Industrial Pneumatic Conveyors

Industrial Pneumatic conveyors are used to transport material from one point to another using air as the conveying medium with which the material is moved. To transport material using pneumatic conveyors, energy is supplied by buckets, belt conveyors, compressor, fan, bower etc. today we will mostly focus on the basic overview of this industrial pneumatic conveying

Well, you can convey materials in a number of ways using pneumatic conveyors but three basic conveying categories are:

Air conveying: In this method, air is used to create a thin film of air between the surface and the material being conveyed. The material is floated along the system with the air cushion or film. It looks like an air hockey table where air causes the material to be conveyed to the desired point. This gives the advantage of requiring a very little force to convey the material and also the material can be rotated in any direction as per the requirement.

In another air conveying method, air nozzles are used with ball valves in such a way that air only flows through the valves when the material being conveyed comes into contact with the valve depressing the ball. Main advantage of this method is that this process reduces the operating cost of the system.

Dense conveying:In this method, high pressure is used to push the material to the destination. Blowers and compressors are used to give high pressure to a slug of material. This is similar to extruding but a demerit of this method is that the material conveyed at comparatively low velocities.

Dilute phase:In this method, a large amount of air is used to convey material to the desired point. The material is conveyed at high velocities as compared to the dense conveying. Most of the industries uses this method in pneumatic conveying methods.
